8th Annual Paper Fashion Show

The Art Directors Club Denver’s Paper Fashion Show is the largest paper fashion show in the nation with over 50 design teams registered for the 2012 show. The 8th Annual Paper Fashion Show will be held on March 15, 2012 at The Denver Center for Performing Arts.

Designers create fashions from paper donated by xpedx®. These fashions are showcased at our grand runway show, and voted on by a panel of judges. The event includes a fully stocked cash bar.

Part of the proceeds and auctioned fashion designs from the Paper Fashion Show benefit Downtown Aurora Visual Arts (DAVA), a local community organization that provides after-school arts programs for at-risk youth.

My team of 3 is participating this year for the ADCD 8th Annual Paper Fashion Show. Concept is ready, Construction about to start......Here is out concept

Creative CoLab - Design Advice Column & Colorado Art + Design Event Calendar

My Team, Creative CoLab is a multi-disciplinary design collaborative that understands the importance of community and the value of sharing ideas.

And with the community in mind we offer two free resources at our website:

Design Advice Column

Have a project on the to-do list but aren't sure where to start? Have you hit a wall (figuratively) in your DIY remodel? Heidi Mendoza, interior design maven, and Snow Galvin, industrial designer/maker/doer, are offering their expertise in a semimonthly advice column addressing your design uncertainties. And in the spirit of collaboration, we encourage others to participate in the process by leaving their perspective in the comments.
Submit your project for review at: info@creativecolab.net

Colorado Art + Design Event Calendar

We continually update our calendar with noteworthy events culled from our large pool of online resources and industry connections. Our calendar differentiates itself from other local calendars by focusing on events which educate, encourage dialog within the arts community, and reflect a level of professionalism and enthusiasm that is propelling Denver's upward trajectory as a destination for design. Event categories include: art + design events, community development + volunteer opportunities, lectures + workshops, competitions + call for entries.

Get involved. Start a dialog. Do good work. Hope to see you around town!

Creative CoLab to Design & Make Awards for Denver Paper Fashion Show

We are absolutely thrilled to be working with the Art Directors Club of Denver and everyone involved with this year's Denver Paper Fashion Show being held at Denver's newest venue, City Hall, on March 24, 2011.

My partner Snow and I had a blast collaborating on the design for this year's award show and are happy to be showing you our contribution.

We'll be posting more about the project as we move into the studio to get these pretty ladies made.
Stay tuned!

Retail Store Concept - Serendipity by Heidi Mendoza

Serendipity [a propensity for making fortunate discoveries while looking for something unrelated.]

Natural, inter-twining, flowing and aesthetically pleasing blend of shades is rarely seen in any other element / material than wood.

First thing you notice as you walk in is the “Wave Structure”, bent plywood structural element from the wall, across the ceiling to the other side with shelves holding some of the merchandising.
Diffused fluorescent lighting is mounted between the panel and the wall and the panel also has small can lights on the roof. (Design by Heidi Mendoza)

Custom panel behind the reception desk was created with laminates and wood. Back panel is white laminate that you can see through the circle patterns on the top wood panel. (Design by Heidi Mendoza.)
