Design After Dark by Design Council of The Denver Art Museum

Project: Design After Dark by Design Council of The Denver Art Museum
Theme: Cirque
Category: Contortion
Contortion is an unusual form of physical display which involves the dramatic bending and flexing of the human body.
Name: Adagio
Designer: RE.DZINE / Heidi Mendoza

Item Description/ Inspiration:
Light Fixture / 10” x 11”
My inspiration is in the natural forms all around us. My intention was to have the individual bent plywood pieces that comprise the shade of the light fixture giving apprehension to be connected and “pealed” out of the frame and forming the lamp shade. Thin strips of bent plywood are arranged in a spiral and random pattern. Areaware Plumen Bulb compliments the undulating form of the shade.
Light fixture casts a tempestuous pattern on the surfaces around it, lending an additional sense of texture to the spaces it occupies.
I believe that light fixtures should be interesting and beautiful whether the lamps are illuminated or not.

Cute wooden designs. I like all the craft and would like to see more. Do you do this out of your profession or just a liking and a habit. :) Please share more :)

Hi AHmed. Thank you so much. This is more of an extracurricular stuff that I do. I design Interiors but sometimes like to explore outside the box :)
